Laser Hair Removal
SILKY SMOOTH.
How Does PrimeLase Work?
Using a specific wavelength of light that is selectively absorbed by the melanin surrounding the hair follicle, the laser is applied to the skin and the heat is conducted down to the base of the follicle and coagulates or cuts of the blood flow to the follicle.
At the same time the cooling technology cools the skin to protect and avoid any damage to the surrounding skin. The hair will be destroyed and removed permanently, leaving the skin hair free and smooth
Is it permanent?
We can permanently remove between 80-90 % of the hair. However hormonal changes,PCOS, pregnancy, undiagnosed hormone imbalance and supplements such as; biotin, folic acid, B12, can cause new hairs to grow requiring top ups, 6-18 months after the course has finished, (some people don’t need any). These hairs would be sporadic and never like they were before.
How long is the wait between treatments?
Face treatments are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. Hollywood, legs, back and under arm appointments are scheduled around 2-3 months apart.
Can I get a wax between sessions?
If you choose to wax between sessions, we recommend 2 weeks after a laser session. However, if you wax, thread, pluck or use hair removal cream, the laser may not be as effective. For best results its recommended you shave the day before treatment.
Does it hurt?
PrimeLase laser system incorporates advanced integrated patented skin cooling technology, keeping the skin at a cool temperature throughout treatment, protecting the skin, ensuring a more comfortable experience. It’s no worse than a wax and is compared to the feeling of an elastic band pinging against the skin.
How many treatments are required?
90% people only need 8 treatments, but some require 10-12
Laser hair removal is effective on hairs in the growing stage or visible on the skin. At any one time 70% of hairs in the skin are dormant and not visible on the surface.
Am I a suitable candidate?
We treat both men and women who wish to remove unwanted hair.
During your consultation we will ask you to complete a full health questionnaire to identify any contraindications.
If you suffer from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) we can treat effectively but you will require ongoing maintenance treatment, which will usually be one session a year, after the course is complete. If you are a PCOS sufferer, your maintenance sessions will be discounted by 20%, but a doctors note must be provided.
Laser will not detect Red, White or Grey hair, it is only suitable for dark hair.
If you plan to expose the treated area to sun, during your course of treatment you are also unsuitable, as tanning increases the melanin in the skin, laser is attracted to melanin, so this will make is harder for the laser to distinguish the hair and can result in burning of the skin.
It is extremely important for your own safety you avoid the area being exposed to the sun and it is your duty to inform us if this has been unavoidable. If this is the case you will be turned away without treatment and a 50% charge of that session will incur.
You may also need extra sessions due to the hair growth cycle, resulting in costing you more money.
